Anton Maurer is a highly accomplished arbitrator focused on international commercial disputes. He is trained both in civil and common law, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), holds an LL.M. in U.S. and global business law, a PhD in public international law, and is an attorney at Law.
Dr. Maurer’s knowledge in diverse areas of law, particularly in international commercial agreements, agency and distributorship agreements, and in international merger and acquisitions as arbitrator, counsel or attorney earned him widespread recognition in the field of international arbitration, and transactions.
He is fluent in English and German and has some knowledge of Portuguese.
He handled disputes as chair, sole arbitrator or as co-arbitrator under the rules of multiple ADR institutions, with arbitration seats including, but not limited to, in England, Germany, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, and the USA. He is listed on the panel of arbitrators in Asia, Europe, Latin-America and the U.S., including JAMS, ICDR, CPR, DIS, ICC, AmCham Brasil, KCAB, AIAC, CIETAC, SHIAC, PDRCI, and VIAC. As counsel, he represented clients in arbitration disputes in China, England, Germany, India, Italy, Switzerland, and in the USA. As counsel, his first arbitration abroad was in Mumbai, India, under Indian law, and with Indian arbitrators.
As an arbitrator, Dr. Maurer brings extensive knowledge, multijurisdictional experience, and industry-specific know-how to provide fair and effective resolution of disputes. His deep appreciation of cultural nuances and understanding of various legal systems allow him to navigate complex cross-border matters with ease.
